The Opening of Eyes EP

I'm really excited to announce that the new EP is now available. The songs that form this collection have been a major part of the last two years of my life - a couple of years that have seen me working on a ton of new material that has slowly taken shape over many performances and rewrites. The first six songs are presented here, but what makes me even more excited is the knowledge that I have at least a dozen more just aching to see the light of day.

Out of all the songs, 'Moved' has had the longest development time. I have loads of cassettes with early version of this track from at least 12 years ago - in fact the second verse was originally written about the conflict in Northern Ireland, but has become even more relevant on a much larger scale.

The title track,' Open your Eyes', more or less wrote itself in an afternoon, and is part of a group of 'call to action' songs. Along with my live favourite, 'Everybody Knows', these songs reflect my desire to 'get out there and play'.

'Another Icarus' is a song about addiction - but more specifically about obsessive compulsive behaviour, rather than reliance on any kind of substance.

'Firefly' tells the story of a man who is so besotted with waiting for his loved one that even a visiting alien could not sway him from his vigil outside her window. Yup, that one's based on experience..

'One Man Show' tells the tale of another failed relationship or affair, leaving the protagonist with the feeling that he will always be alone. Or it could be about a singer songwriter's multiple failed attempts to work with bands...

Finally 'Favourite Girl' has a number of sources, but is generally about the passing of a favourite friend.

I hope you enjoy the EP, I'd be very grateful for any feedback!
