Although CP is a national charity, each volunteer branch is largely self sufficient, and relies on donations and support from people in the local area for its continued progress. Salisbury & District Branch is a particularly busy one, and we rehome up to 500 cats each year!
As an organisation we focus on caring for or rehoming lost or abandoned cats, and we ensure that each cat is cared for, vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (if required) before being rehomed. Our monthly vet bills are therefore significant, and whilst we ask for a donation towards this from new owners, we still need to fundraise constantly. On average, we spend £150 on each cat prior to rehoming - food and litter, vaccinations, any vet bills, and so on.
All our team are volunteers who lend their time and skills to help the many cats in our care.
Could you make a donation to help us? All donations, however small, go a long way to helping our stray, needy and abandoned cats.
You can also donate any spare cat food or accessories you may have. Pampurred Pets store in Salisbury have very kindly allowed us to display a small tub by their entrance for any cat related items you may wish to donate.
By becoming a member of Salisbury Cats Protection you can help the cats in our care and receive regular updates and information via post or email about the activities within the branch.
A year's membership costs just £5, which will go directly towards the care of cats within our branch, and you will receive a quarterly newsletter and membership pack, which contains a car sticker, certificate, postcards and membership badge.
New members will also get a pack of 5 Christmas cards (while stocks last!)
Volunteering for Cats Protection is a rewarding experience, particularly if you have a skill that would benefit the charity or would like to develop new skills by taking on a fresh challenge.
Not just rattling tins...
..there's so much more you can do. You may be creative and like to design some cards or promotional material for us perhaps. If you like meeting people and communicating then you may like to talk to groups about what we do; you may have contacts with stores and organisations who can get involved and help spread the word and support our activities.
Everyone has a skill of some sort, and we'd be delighted to hear from you if you think you can help us in any way, no matter how much or little time you may have available.
We also have some specific roles available - we're currently looking for a new Team Leader and a number of Telephone / Email Support volunteers, who can help with answering requests and calls.
Become a Cat Cabin sponsor for as little as £1 per week (or more if you wish) and your generosity will provide vital funds to help our cat cabin occupants.
You can help provide homeless cats and kittens with real and practical support by sponsoring a Cat Cabin, a purpose-built pen located at a Salisbury Cats Protection foster home, until a permanent new home can be found for them.
Every year a single Cat Cabin gives dozens of unwanted or poorly cats a warm, clean, and safe place to stay, with a cosy bed, toys, regular meals, medical care and attentive fosterers.
Cats Protection do not put to sleep any cat / kitten simply because they are difficult to re-home or have medical needs. We make great effort to rehabilitate these cats and give them a reasonable quality of life, even if it means permanent foster. Long-term medical care for a ‘Golden Oldie’ is therefore quite substantial.
In return for your kindness, we will send you a certificate and a special newsletter every three months; featuring stories and photographs of cats that have been helped by your support, on behalf of the grateful occupants. You will also automatically become a member of Salisbury CP and receive the membership pack.
There are many ways in which you can help our cats and those who care for them - sponsor a cat or cabin, donate goods or money, leave a legacy in your will or become a member or volunteer!

Thank you for your support.
If you have enjoyed the affection and companionship that your cat has given you over the years, then you may wish to remember Cats Protection in your Will. Every year, CP helps give thousands of cats a second chance in life, and we wouldn't be able to do this without the kind legacies left to us by supporters and cat lovers.
Please mention that you wish any legacy to be left specifically to the Salisbury branch, so we can benefit in full from your generosity.
We can also provide help and advice if you are worried about what will become of your cat in the event that you become ill or die.
For further information about making a Will and securing your cats future, please call us on 01980 862059.
We are always in need of good quality bric-a-brac that we can sell at our fundraising stalls or to put on our charity online auction. All money raised from the items will go towards helping the cats in our care.
Donations of cat food, beds, blankets, bowls, scratching posts and toys are always gratefully accepted. Donated items can be dropped off at:

We regret we can not accept furniture, electrical goods and other large items.
The Salisbury and District branch was established more than 20 years ago. We have over 12 volunteers and in any one year we may rescue and rehome as many as 500 cats and kittens.
If you can offer a home to one of our rescue cats, please contact our co-ordinator on 01980-862059
We are always on the look out for new volunteers - people who can take telephone calls, help fundraise and promote the work we do are most welcome.
We are also currently looking to fill a number of specific roles, including branch co-ordinator/leader so please contact us if you think you'd like to get involved.
